Buttery Peas with Thyme

This is a simple, but tasty way to prepare what is often a pretty boring vegetable.

  • 2 tbsp
    butter, unsalted
  • ½ cup
    onion, yellow (diced)
  • 2 tsp
    sugar, granulated
  • ¼ tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    garlic (minced)
  • 3 cups
    peas, frozen
  • ¼ tsp
    pepper, black
Melt the butter over medium heat in a skillet. Once the butter starts to foam, add the onions and sautée until they are golden and translucent. Add the sugar, salt, and garlic. Cook until the garlic starts to brown.

  • ½ tsp
    thyme, dried
  • ¼ tsp
    pepper, black
Add the peas and thyme and cook, stirring often, until the peas are soft and heated through (about 5 minutes). Season with black pepper and serve.
