Chole

Chole is an Indian dish featuring garbanzo beans in a highly-seasoned, tomato-based sauce.

  • 1 tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 cup
    onions, yellow (diced)
  • 1 tsp
    garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup
    tomatoes (diced)
Sautée the onions in olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until soft and transluscent. Then stir in the garlic and continue to sautée until the garlic has browned as well. Finally, add the tomatoes and cook covered for a further 5 minutes.

    water
  • ½ tsp
    chili powder
  • 1½ tsp
    coriander powder
  • ½ tsp
    cumin powder
  • ¾ tsp
    garam masala
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • ½ tsp
    tumeric
Add in the dry spices and a little water. Allow to cook for a further 5 minutes.

  • 16 oz
    garbanzo beans (rinsed, drained)
  • 1¼ cups
    water
  • 2 tbsp
    cilantro (minced)
Add in the remaining water, garbanzo beans, and cilantro. Cook, uncovered, until the sauce has thickened.
